Fox, Chicken, Grain After a night of wild partying, you wake up to find that you're far from home and you seem to have acquired a fox, a chicken, and a sackful of grain. In order to get back home, you have to cross a wide river, but your boat is only large enough to carry you and one of your items.

The Puzzle: Unfortunately, if you leave the fox with the chicken, or the chicken with the grain, you'll end up losing some of your property! Your challenge is to get the fox, chicken, and grain safely across the river.

There's only one item you can take across safely to start with. Remember that foxes are vegetarian!

You might need to take an item over the river more than once.

Your only option for the first move is to take the chicken across. Indeed, all your moves are strictly proscribed in this puzzle. The trick in solving the puzzle is that you have to transport the chicken over the river three times and also you have to cross the river empty-handed three times. This makes a total of eight journeys.
